I didn’t quit Twitter because of negative comments –Sean Tizzle

Not many Nigerians were shocked when popular singer, Sean Tizzle, announced that he was quitting Twitter. Many people ascribed his decision to the constant backlash he receives on the social media platform due to some of his provoking comments.
Most popular among the negative comments are the constant attck on him that he bleaches his skin.
The singer also put himself on the spot with his tweet on Omawumi’s cover of Adele’s song, ‘Hello’. While praising Omwunmi’s sonorous voice, Sean Tizzle said that Omawumi’s cover of the song was better than Adele’s ‘weak’ version.
With that comment alone, some Twitter users didn’t spare Sean Tizzle as they tongue- lashed him for saying Omawunmi did better than Adele.
However in a chat with Saturday Beats, Sean Tizzle said that he was not quitting Twitter because of negative comments. He said that he made the decision because he wants to focus the energy into the completion of his sophomore album.
He said, “My decision to quit Twitter is not a marketing strategy neither is it a publicity stunt. I made the decision because I want to focus on making my sophomore album. My previous album was a success and a yardstick for me; the next one has to be way better. There are a lot of things I have to put together to make the album great and that is why I decided to stay off Twitter. I just want to focus more on my album and other things and not Twitter,” he said.
“I think it is laughable for anyone to say that I am off Twitter because of negative comments. People would always talk, either it is about a good thing or a bad thing; they must always talk and comment on social media. That is a given. Everyone is entitled to their comment and none of that affects me. I just want to concentrate on my work. It has nothing to do with negative comments, everybody gets that online,” he said.
